When I was in grade four I was walking to school one morning when I fell and hurt my knee. It hurt pretty badly but my Mom told me to pray to God. I asked God for help first then I told myself that God is Love. I had just remembered a few of God's names when the pain had totally gone away! The big hole in the stocking is still there but the pain isn't!
by Heather J. M

One day I was running and fell quite hard on my face. My dad brought me in crying as I had hurt my lip. It didn't look very nice. My mom cleaned me up and told me the Truth about me as God's Perfect Child. She told me that God made me and always looks after me, that his arms always help me and that I could never fall from them. We called a practitioner to help pray for me. We all felt very calm and that God was right there all around us, caring for us. I was God's perfect reflection and nothing could change that. I never felt sad and played with my toys. My lip healed quickly, leaving no mark. My teeth were fine and my gums never hurt again. I was so grateful to God. My whole family thanked God for his loving care. I am so glad to know that God is always all around me. It helps me to not be aftaid of anything.

Explore spiritual resources for young people!

Are you a young person embarking on a spiritual journey? In her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy makes this arresting statement: "It is possible,—yea, it is the duty and privilege of every child, man, and woman,—to follow in some degree the example of the Master [Christ Jesus] by the demonstration of Truth and Life,
of health and holiness." (S&H 37:22)

She anticipated that children should both learn about and practice Christian healing. This learning and practicing process which she authorized in her Church Manual has certainly taken place. Children and young people do learn to heal, sometimes more quickly and simply than adults! So you have the opportunity (and inherent ability) to learn how to heal, today!

Christian Science Sunday school

In 1881 the first Christian Science Sunday school was organized. Ever since, a Sunday school has been an integral part of every Christian Science church and society.

Sunday school functions at the same time as the Sunday morning church service. Sunday school classes are generally small in size (one to five pupils) and the teachers are selected for their Biblical and spiritual knowledge, as well as for their practical spiritual capability.

Sunday school starts whenever young children are ready, and extends up to the age of 20. All children and teenagers who are interested in learning about how spirituality can be practically applied are welcome, regardless of their religious backgrounds.

Sunday Schools are a place for children and youth to learn about their relationship to a loving God through explanation of these ideas in the Bible and Science and Health.

Christian Science college organizations

Christian Science college organizations exist at colleges and universities in many countries of the world. They are informal organizations of students and faculty who meet to discuss issues from a spiritual perspective, and to share the learnings thus gained.

Meeting usually weekly, they:

  • study the Bible and Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
  • discuss the relevance of spirituality to university life
  • pray for healing of university and world issues
